Association between egg consumption and arterial stiffness: a longitudinal study

چکیده

Abstract Background Inconsistent associations between egg consumption and cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk have been observed in previous studies. This study aims to longitudinally investigate the association altered of arterial stiffness, a major pre-clinical pathogenic change CVD, which was assessed by brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV). Methods A total 7315 Chinese participants from Kailuan Study, free CVD cancer were included this study. Egg semi-quantitative validated food frequency questionnaire 2014. baPWV repeatedly measured at baseline during follow-up (mean follow-up: 3.41 years). General linear regression used calculate means rate across different groups, adjusting for age, sex, baPWV, healthy eating index, energy, social-economic status, blood pressure, obesity, smoking, lipid profiles, fasting glucose concentrations. Results Compared annual with 0–1.9 eggs/wk. (adjusted mean: 35.9 ± 11.2 cm/s/y), those consuming 3–3.9 0.2 11.4 cm/s/y) had lowest increase (P-difference = 0.002). Individuals low (0–1.9 eggs/wk) vs. high (5+ eggs /wk) intake showed similar changes baPWV. Conclusions In large-scale longitudinal analysis, we did not find significant difference as level, groups. However, moderate (3–3.9 appeared beneficial effects on stiffness.

Association between Vitamin D and arterial stiffness.

V D is a type of fat-soluble pleiotropic hormone. In addition to known effects regarding calcium metabolism, numerous reports of effects on the cardiovascular system have recently been published. [1–3] Low vitamin D concentration (defined as serum 25-hydroxy vitamin D concentration either below 50 nmol/L or 20 ng/ml) can impair vascular function. Vitamin D deficiency may cause vascular inflamma...

Longitudinal Association Between Serum Uric Acid and Arterial Stiffness: Results From the Baltimore Longitudinal Study of Aging.

Serum uric acid (SUA) has long been associated with increased cardiovascular risk, with arterial stiffness proposed as a mediator. However, evidence on the association between SUA and arterial stiffness is limited to contradicting cross-sectional studies. In this analysis, we examined the longitudinal relationship between SUA and pulse wave velocity, a measure of arterial stiffness, in a commun...
